Visit California Launches ‘Dreaming On In California,’ Making up Missed Moments with Epic Experiences

As California’s June 15 reopening approaches, Golden State readies to welcome back visitors, offering travelers the chance to recapture postponed milestones and celebrations

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 4, 2021) – Today, Visit California announced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for travelers to make up missed milestones and moments from the last year during a weeklong celebration with experiences across the state.

In recognition of the state’s projected June 15 reopening, Visit California encourages locals and visitors alike to keep Dreaming on in California by sharing their stories of postponed dreams, skipped plans and cancelled celebrations from 2020 at VisitCalifornia.com/DreamingOn for the chance to make them come true this year — California style.

“California has been the backdrop for countless ‘Dream Big’ moments and epic adventures,” said Caroline Beteta, president & CEO of Visit California. “Last year, the right thing to do was focus on keeping people healthy and well, but now it’s time to safely reopen our destinations and jumpstart memory making with ultimate California experiences.”

Set against California’s awe-inspiring backdrops, the week of experiences – taking place June 21-25 –will create unforgettable memories of life’s most important celebrations. The dream-worthy experiences on offer to selected recipients will include:

  • 10 elopements in a single day at the California Pop-Up Wedding Chapel in Napa Valley, one of California’s top destination wedding locales
  • Reuniting family members for a special night out at a San Diego Padres game at Petco Park
  • An unbelievable sunset meal to make up missed milestone celebrations
  • Ultimate customized family road trips and exclusive experiences at many of California’s iconic attractions across the state.

Visitors to VisitCalifornia.com/DreamingOn will submit a short survey, including what major milestone, celebration or other life happening they postponed or lost in 2020, why it was important, and with whom they planned to share those special moments. Submitters are encouraged to upload photos and share their social handles or links to videos that tell their story.

The Dreaming On portal is open for submissions through 11:59 p.m. on May 24. Selected recipients must be able to be in California for their experience the week of June 21 with details, including location and duration, to be revealed by May 31.

“California is all about the power of possibility,” Beteta said. “Looking ahead to this summer and beyond, we know anything is possible and can’t wait to help people make up for these missed moments in ways bigger than they ever imagined.”

Future visitors are encouraged to share how they’re “Dreaming On” with post-pandemic travels by posting their California travel plans on social media using the hashtags #DreamingOn and #VisitCalifornia.
