With 300 athletes from around the world battling it out for more than 700,000 fans in attendance, the nine-day surf, skate and BMX gathering, the US Open, features the biggest surf competition on the planet and is one of the biggest pro sports competitions of any kind.
Huntington Beach, aka Surf City USA, has hosted the free, family-friendly event since 1959, expanding to include pro skateboard and BMX action (right on the sand in specially constructed venues), athlete meet-and-greets, outdoor film screenings, art installations, and an extreme sports lifestyle expo. Rad.
There is perhaps no better way to experience California’s iconic surfing culture than to attend an event that draws some of its most skilled athletes from around the world.
