Officially opened on May 28 in Encinitas, Anigma is a hidden, 47-seat cocktail bar from Paula Vrakas & the team behind The Roxy Encinitas. It takes its name from the concept of esoteric knowledge—mysteries that unfold layer by layer when discovered by those seeking them out. Tucked within an unassuming storefront called Archive along S. Coast Hwy 101, Anigma blends layered storytelling, vintage curiosities, and a transportive cocktail experience inspired by ancient insights & mysticism. The space itself was designed to feel like a discovery—featuring salvaged bullet hole-laden ceiling tiles from a 1860s Wyoming saloon, antique oddities, handmade velvet drapery, brass accents, and a dramatic cathedral-style back bar. Guests pass through a golden astrolabe-inspired doorway before stepping into the intimate lounge. The opening beverage program centers on narrative-driven cocktails inspired by San Diego legends and mythology, alongside innovative craft cocktails and spirit-free off.
