Chef Philip Tessier has helped turn PRESS Restaurant in St. Helena into one of California wine country's most celebrated dining destinations, earning a Michelin star and recognition from World's 50 Best Discovery. In 2025, Tessier expanded the PRESS experience with Under-Study, a neighboring culinary marketplace featuring a café, patisserie, butcher shop and bottle shop. Beyond Napa Valley, Tessier is known internationally for becoming the first American chef to reach the podium at the prestigious Bocuse d'Or competition and later coaching Team USA to its historic 2017 gold medal win.

Opening summer 2026 in Tahoe City, Savoie marks Michelin-starred Chef Mark Sullivan's latest venture alongside his wife, Chef Alison Sullivan. Known for acclaimed restaurants like Spruce and The Village Pub, the couple is bringing elevated alpine cuisine and refined hospitality to Lake Tahoe through an intimate, mountain-inspired dining experience. Savoie blends sophisticated technique with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the region.

Paso Robles Michelin dining beyond the tasting menu

At Les Petites Canailles, Chef Julien Asseo brings classic French cooking and seasonal local ingredients into an intimate, polished setting, while Six Test Kitchen offers Chef Ricky Odbert's highly personal Michelin-starred tasting menu built around hyper-seasonal California flavors. The Restaurant at JUSTIN immerses guests in a transportive dining experience inspired by Paso Robles' landscape, pairing layered, precision-driven dishes with the surrounding wine country atmosphere. Meanwhile, The Hatch Rotisserie & Bar delivers a more laid-back but equally thoughtful approach through open-fire cooking, locally sourced ingredients and Michelin-recognized culinary talent rooted in Central Coast flavor.

San Luis Obispo's rising culinary talent

Italian pastry chef Florencia Breda has quickly become one of SLO’s standout culinary names through her downtown shop, Breda, where handcrafted pastries and chocolates blend European influence with playful creativity. Nearby at Michelin-recognized Ox + Anchor inside Hotel SLO, Executive Chef Ryan Fancher combines classic steakhouse technique, Central Coast ingredients and regional wines into a refined but approachable dining experience highlighted by dishes like goat cheese croquettes and seasonal sides.

Santa Ynez Valley's pandemic-era Michelin success

Chef Michael Cherney and his wife Sarah opened peasants FEAST in Santa Ynez Valley in early 2020, eventually turning the restaurant into one of the Central Coast's most celebrated dining destinations. The team later expanded with peasants DELI & Arcade, while peasants FEAST earned a coveted MICHELIN Bib Gourmand designation in 2022, the only new Bib Gourmand added along California's Central Coast that year. The restaurant has maintained its MICHELIN recognition ever since.

Morgan Hill craftsmanship at Odeum

At Odeum in Morgan Hill, Chef Salvatore Calisi brings Michelin-starred experience and a deeply personal approach to Mediterranean-inspired dining rooted in scratch-made cooking and seasonal ingredients. Drawing from Roman, Greek and Spanish influences, the menu highlights sustainable proteins, produce from the restaurant's private garden and orchard, and refined culinary technique showcased through the open kitchen. Beyond the food, live entertainment, rotating local art and Morgan Hill's only wood-fired oven help create an experience that feels both artistic and intimate.

West Hollywood's historic three-star experience

West Hollywood made Michelin history when Somni earned Los Angeles' first-ever three-star Michelin designation under acclaimed Spanish chef Aitor Zabala. The intimate 14-seat counter experience combines avant-garde technique, Spanish influence and highly personal storytelling through a multi-course tasting menu designed to feel theatrical and immersive. 

Torrance’s hidden sushi craft

Tucked inside sister restaurant I-naba, Sushi Inaba in Torrance offers a Michelin-rated omakase experience centered on precision, aging techniques and deeply seasonal Japanese ingredients. Chef Yasuhiro Hirano is known for combining exotic fish, homemade soba noodles and inventive preparations like uni sauce soba and baby eel "udon" into a highly detailed dining experience. Guests enjoy everything from chirashi bowls to carefully aged nigiri including kombu-cured kasugodai and two-week-aged shima aji.

Laguna Beach blends coastal dining with chef storytelling

Home to Michelin-starred Rebel Omakase, the coastal destination has become known for intimate dining concepts and hyper-local California cuisine. This spring, The Ranch at Laguna Beach launched its California Table Series, bringing acclaimed chefs together for collaborative garden dinners focused on seasonal cooking and destination-inspired flavors. 

Buena Park's 40-hour Michelin ramen craft

Buena Park's Ramen & Tsukemen TAO has earned MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand recognition for its meticulous approach to traditional Japanese ramen. Each broth is simmered for up to 40 hours, creating rich, deeply layered flavors paired with carefully prepared noodles. Signature bowls include White Miso, Red Miso, Tonkotsu and Tsukemen dipping noodles, all reflecting the restaurant's dedication to craftsmanship and authenticity.

San Diego County

Oceanside's Michelin scene spans global flavors

Oceanside's growing culinary reputation includes four Michelin-recognized restaurants spread across the coastline. At Valle, Chef Roberto Alcocer channels the flavors of Mexico's Guadalupe Valley through Oceanside's first Michelin-starred restaurant, while 24 Suns combines Chinese culinary traditions with Southern California ingredients from chefs Nicholas Weber and Jacob Jordan. Chef Brandon Rogers, formerly of three-star Michelin restaurant Benu, brings elevated burger craftsmanship to Tanner's Prime Burgers using USDA prime beef sourced from Imperial Valley ranches. Meanwhile, Dija Mara chef Tommy Ramirez blends Southeast Asian and Western influences with inspiration from his Oaxacan roots to create bold, globally inspired dishes.

Carlsbad's Michelin momentum

Chef Eric Bost has helped transform Carlsbad into one of Southern California's standout dining destinations through a collection of acclaimed restaurants located within blocks of one another. His modern French bistro Jeune et Jolie has maintained a Michelin star since 2021, while chef's table concept Lilo earned its own Michelin star weeks after opening. Bost also oversees the live-fire restaurant Campfire and the all-day café and bar Wildland, each reflecting California's outdoor dining culture and ingredient-driven cooking.
