Get a Taste of the Golden State During 10th Annual California Restaurant Month

Enjoy special culinary experiences and promotional pricing throughout January

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2019) – California invites visitors and locals alike to sip and savor their way through the state’s iconic culinary scene throughout the month of January, in celebration of the 10th annual California Restaurant Month.

Nearly 40 destinations are participating in California Restaurant Month, serving up endless opportunities for culinary adventures including immersive food experiences, prix fixe menus and special events.

“California’s agricultural bounty, talented chefs and Michelin-recognized restaurants have earned the state worldwide renown,” Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta said. “January is the perfect time to experience this abundance firsthand, as the innovative and diverse nature of the state’s culinary scene is on full display.”

During California Restaurant Month, food-lovers can enjoy everything from sustainable seafood offerings in Monterey and perfect beverage pairings in Butte County to a mixology event in Alameda and unique kumquat-inspired dishes in Santa Monica.

The highlights to follow are just a taste of the diverse culinary experiences that travelers can enjoy in January.

ALAMEDA
Alameda Restaurant Week
January 16-26

Alameda Restaurant Week is back for its third year! More than 40 participating restaurants and bars will showcase their culinary delights by offering prix fixe menus and specials. When guests dine at any participating restaurant or bar, they will receive a raffle card to be stamped. Once a card is fully stamped, diners will be entered to win over $1,300 in Alameda restaurant gift cards. Restaurant Week will kick off with a mixology event exhibiting Alameda's premier bartenders and local cuisine, where one bartender will receive the title of Master Mixologist.

BERKELEY
Berkeley Restaurant Week
January 21-31

The 8th annual Berkeley Restaurant Week (#BRW20) features a diverse range of restaurants that share Berkeley’s Cali-cuisine legacy. With more than 350 restaurants city-wide, there’s an amazing array of dining options ranging from casual to candlelit. Independent, family-run ranches and farms produce almost everything a chef could dream of within double-digit miles from the center of the city. Place your finger on the Berkeley map, and chances are there is something tasty, local and organic on the block. Cuisines from across the world are served with authentic style in Berkeley. 

BUTTE COUNTY
Butte County Restaurant Week - Perfect Pairings
January 17-26

During Butte County Restaurant Week, all participating restaurants will offer a unique food and/or drink pairing that diners wouldn’t ordinarily be able to enjoy. The “perfect pairings” will be each restaurant's take on what makes Butte County food unique. Visitors will have access to prixe fixe menu options for brunch, lunch and dinner throughout the entire week, making Restaurant Week a great opportunity for people to experience new restaurants or rediscover old favorites.

CALISTOGA
Calistoga Restaurant Week
January 16-February 1

The small town of Calistoga in Napa Valley might be better known for its wine and wellness scene, but the area is also worth a visit for its gastronomic offerings. With everything from sold-out culinary events like the annual Calistoga Harvest Table, to over-the-top scenic patio dining, Calistoga’s menus are notable for using locally-sourced ingredients and chefs who add a delicious twist on Napa Valley cuisine. During Calistoga Restaurant Week, guests will find special two- and three-course prix fixe menus at participating restaurants.

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA
Carmel-by-the-Sea Culinary Week - "The Art of the Plate"
January 19-26

In its first year, "Art of the Plate" in Carmel-by-the-Sea allows food to come alive and connotes Carmel’s artistic heritage and beautiful culinary works of art through immersive food experiences, special prix fixe menus and exciting events. Carmel's chefs and restaurateurs will craft unforgettable dining experiences for the first annual Carmel-by-the-Sea Culinary Week. Cupertino Restaurant Week
January 29-February 4

Cupertino Restaurant Week (#CupertinoRW) celebrates its first year by enabling locals and visitors to experience the food and wine culture that reflects the diversity of Cupertino. Dine Alhambra Restaurant Week 2020
January 24-31

Downtown Alhambra is holding its third annual Restaurant Week, recently renamed "Dine Alhambra Restaurant Week.” Restaurants will be offering two- and three-course prix-fixe menus upon request, priced anywhere from $15 – $30 for lunch, and $20 – $50 for dinner. The week-long celebration spotlights the amazing and diverse cuisines of Downtown Alhambra’s restaurant scene. Diners can enjoy everything from Italian to Peruvian cuisine, thanks to specials at participating eateries.

Sacramento is quickly becoming an industry leader in the fine dining scene, known as the Farm-to-Fork Capital of the world. Various family dining specials and “dine and stay” specials will allow visitors to enjoy the mountain town and its cuisine.
