Pride Month Across California

June marks the beginning of Pride Month, a time when destinations across California welcome visitors to celebrate alongside the LGBTQ+ community with vibrant parades, festivals and events. Here is a list of cities throughout the state offering inclusive celebrations honoring diversity and equality.

DESTINATIONS

San Francisco Pride: Filoli’s Dragtopia
Filoli is kicking off Pride Month with a weekend of joyful performances and experiences celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. The historic estate will be adorned with colorful décor, artwork and Pride-themed flower arrangements. On May 31, enjoy Dragtopia with drag performers, a DJ, an art show and a "Dynasty" look-alike competition. The weekend also features events like Drag Queen Storytime, Queer Taiko and after-dark dance parties. Start the month with this unique San Francisco Pride event.

Sonoma County Pride
Sonoma County warmly welcomes LGBTQ+ visitors year-round as a great getaway with gay-friendly accommodations. Kicking off Pride Month from June 1-2, the 39th annual Sonoma County Pride Parade in downtown Santa Rosa features colorful floats and community support. The same weekend, wine lovers can enjoy the Big West Wine Fest in Guerneville. On June 2, the “Atlantis" Pool Party at Graton Resort & Casino offers the largest gay pool party in Northern California. From June 8-10, the Outwatch Film Festival will showcase LGBTQ+ themed films. Additionally, Lush hosts monthly LGBTQ+ dance parties with drag performances, and the Gay Wine Weekend from July 19-21 includes tastings, tours and entertainment.

Sonora Pride
Sonora Pride kicks off Pride Month with festivities on June 2 from noon to 6:00 p.m. featuring LGBTQ+ artisans, community organizations providing resources, a family-friendly drag hour, a DJ and free food from CalPride. Later in the month, on June 18, Around the Horn Brewing in Groveland hosts the 4th annual Hops and Glitter Pride Month Celebration and Burlesque Show, a fundraiser supporting CalPride Sierras and their peer support groups across four counties.

Elk Grove Pride
Celebrate Pride Month at the 3rd annual Elk Grove Pride Festival on June 22 at Laguna Town Hall. This free, all-ages event features live entertainment, art vendors showcasing LGBTQIA+ talents, educational resources and diverse cuisine from local food vendors. Enjoy a lively atmosphere filled with activities that support and honor the LGBTQ+ community. Elk Grove Pride is a community-led LGBTQIA+ and youth-centered celebration organized by Sacramento Filipinx LGBTQIA+ and Elk Grove Pride Organizing Committee. 

Oceanside Pride 
Oceanside's Pride Month festivities kick off with the 17th annual Pride by the Beach on June 1, a lively festival attracting over 23,000 attendees with its mix of local entertainment, educational exhibits and diverse food offerings in downtown Oceanside. The celebration continues June 14 at the Oceanside Museum of Art with "Street Level Volume 2.2," featuring the special exhibition "Undocumented Times: Queer Yearnings" and showcasing talent from across Southern California through music, spoken word, dance and more.

San Luis Obispo Pride
San Luis Obispo County embraces the LGBTQ+ community with Central Coast Pride events in May and June, such as Trans Pride at the Park, Glow Up! Pride Party, and Rise Up! Drag and Burlesque Show. On May 19, Timbre Winery will release its 5th anniversary special edition of the Dancing Queen Sparkling Rose with 10% of all sales going to the GALA Pride & Diversity Center in SLO City. For the first time in San Luis Obispo history, the Madonna Inn will host a drag show brunch on June 2 filled with queens and exciting, inclusive energy as guests enjoy brunch and the show. The Bunker will premiere its new Pride exhibit “Who Am I?" on June 7, showcasing San Luis Obispo's LGBTQ+ artists expressing their identities through fine art.

Santa Barbara: Beyond Pride Month
The Santa Barbara South Coast celebrates the LGBTQ+ community year-round, notably through the Pacific Pride Festival held in downtown Santa Barbara on Aug. 24. This free, all-day event offers diverse local vendors, entertainment, food and libations. Also, in collaboration with the newly renovated Kimpton Canary Hotel, the Pacific Pride Foundation hosts monthly mixers featuring unique themes, special performances, DJs and dancing, all admission-free. Offered year-round, kick off Sunday with Glitter Brunch at Santa Barbara’s Wildcat Lounge with a drag show as the main attraction.

San Jose Pride: Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose’s Proud of My Family 
The Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose celebrates all types of families year-round and will amplify this during Pride Month. On June 1, the Proud of My Family event honors LGBTQ+ families with activities like making rainbow streamers, a visitor parade, commemorative photos, face and body art and dancing in the Rainbow Dance Zone. Designed especially for children and families, this event highlights the meaning of Pride and offers a joyful celebration for everyone.

Oakland Pride
Oakland boasts one of the most vibrant LGBTQ+ communities in the U.S. Oakland Museum of California opens its newest exhibition, "Calli: The Art of Xicanx Peoples” by queer Chicana activist Margie Terrazas Santos on June 14, exploring queer, feminist, intergenerational and Xicanx-Indigenous narratives. Celebrate Oakland's Pride at Pridefest Oakland on Sept. 8, an annual event supporting and celebrating the diverse LGBTQ+ cultures in the Bay Area. 

West Hollywood Pride: LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration Returns
WeHo Pride 2024 kicks off on Harvey Milk Day, May 22, for "40 Days of Pride," featuring iconic events like the WeHo Pride Parade, Dyke March and WeHo Pride Arts Festival, marking a historic moment for West Hollywood and the LGBTQ+ community. On May 31, festivities begin with the Friday Night at OUTLOUD music festival at West Hollywood Park. The free event launches OUTLOUD's three-day queer music extravaganza with headliners Kesha, Kylie Minogue, Janelle Monáe and Diplo, plus more special guests.

Monterey County Pride
Monterey County hosts a variety of LGBTQIA+ events throughout Pride Month and beyond, including Pearl Hour's LGBTQIA+ night every second Thursday and a monthly Roulette Hour Drag Show. Monterey Bay F.C. will celebrate Pride Night on June 8, and the Monterey Peninsula Pride Parade on June 29 will feature a downtown procession followed by festivities at Custom House Plaza with local vendors and queer entertainers, while the Salinas Valley Pride Parade is scheduled for Oct. 12.

Eureka Pride
The Humboldt LGBTQ+ Art Show will be held at Synapsis on June 1, featuring drawings, paintings and a variety of visual and performing arts, including poetry, drag, dance, music, aerial performances, original costumes and photography. The Redwood Pride Summer Festival kicks off on June 8 with a parade at the Adorni Center, followed by a festival at the Jefferson Center.

Long Beach Pride: Aquarium of the Pacific
Join Pride Night at the Aquarium of the Pacific, in partnership with the LGBTQ Center Long Beach, for a celebration of LGBTQ+ communities. This all-ages event will include drag queen storytelling, rainbow-themed programming, live music, a DJ at the Honda Blue Cavern and opportunities to learn about local LGBTQ+ support organizations. The evening will also honor an individual or organization for outstanding community service and promoting diversity awareness.

San Diego Pride
Pride Month in San Diego is packed with exciting events, starting with She Fest on July 13, which features workshops, vendors, community organizations and performers for women and non-binary people. The Spirit of Stonewall Rally on July 19 honors leaders who work to preserve our community's progress and address ongoing challenges. On July 20, kick off the day with the Pride 5K, followed by the San Diego Pride Parade, the region's largest civic event, attracting over 250,000 attendees, and cap off the festivities with the San Diego Pride Festival on July 20-21, featuring live performances from over 100 artists across five entertainment zones.

Santa Rosa Pride
Santa Rosa kicks off Pride Month on May 31 with its annual Pride Flag Raising, followed by a Latinx dance party, ¡Pride Fiesta “Al Cien”!, benefiting Translife of Sonoma County. On June 1, the city hosts its 40th annual Pride Parade and Festival, the second-largest in Northern California after San Francisco. Throughout June, enjoy live performances, outdoor activities, pool parties and support local LGBTQ+ businesses as Santa Rosa celebrates the Queer community.

SPECIAL HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS 

Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55
Hilton San Francisco Union Square and Parc 55 will be the official hotel sponsors of San Francisco Pride and Frameline48, the world's largest LGBTQ+ film festival. Throughout June, guests can celebrate Pride with 15% off room rates, a 15% discount on hotel restaurants and rooms guaranteed on the 15th floor or higher. Both hotels will feature vibrant Pride decor, drink specials and Frameline films on guest room TVs. Additionally, guests can enjoy the "Union Square in Bloom" activation with floral displays and themed cocktails, including the "poppy lobby" at Hilton Union Square and the colorful "Bloom 55" at Parc 55.

Beacon Grand 
The historic Beacon Grand hotel, located in the heart of San Francisco’s Union Square is offering a special Pride Month room package and cocktail offering throughout June. Available at the hotel’s bar and restaurant, The Post Room, the Simply Complicated cocktail will be served with an oversized pride cookie from local gay-owned Hot Cookie, and a portion of proceeds will directly support San Francisco Pride. Inspired by a chocolate-dipped strawberry, the Simply Complicated cocktail is made with Pasote tequila, spiced agave, fresh strawberry puree and basil. 

The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood
The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood is celebrating LA Pride with two special packages and a Drag Queen Brunch summer series starting June 2. The LA Pride Staycation package offers 15% off the best available rate with flexible cancellation for stays from June 1-30. The Time to Take LA Pride package includes a stay in a Hollywood King room, daily breakfast and drink vouchers, and a Godfrey Goodie. The hotel's i|O rooftop will host a Drag Queen Brunch with Krystal Delite on June 2, featuring chef-crafted brunch bites and a two-cocktail minimum.

AC Hotel Beverly Hills
AC Hotel Beverly Hills welcomes guests year-round, and from May 1 to June 30, is offering a special Pride Month package that includes an overnight stay, a bottle of Prosecco, a $10 gift shop credit and late check-out. Enjoy a special greeting and celebrate Pride in style at this welcoming hotel.
