Hot Hotels Opening in the Golden State

Sure a vacation is about exploring the destination, but as any traveler knows, where you stay can make or break the experience. 2020 brings a host of contemporary, “it” new hotels, as well as recently renovated properties waiting for travelers to make memories in California.

New Hotels

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley: Opening summer 2020, the new Four Seasons Napa blends all the luxury the brand is known for with the stunning setting of wine country. The property features a working vineyard and two Michelin star Chef Erik Anderson leads the culinary team on property.

Yotel: The new Yotel in San Francisco is the first aviation inspired hotel on the West Coast. Located in the historic Grant Building in the city’s Performing Arts District, it is Yotel’s first adaptive reuse project, and the first outlet featuring the brand’s new Sky Cabin rooms.

Hampton Inn & Suites: Known for its summer garlic festival, Gilroy gets a new Hampton Inn this spring. The 103-bed hotel is near the Gilroy Premium Outlets, wineries and historic downtown Gilroy.

Hotel SLO: The recently opened Hotel SLO debuts its signature restaurant, Oxen + Anchor in early 2020, featuring top wines from the Central Coast. The hotel’s rooftop bar opened this year with the best city and mountaintop views in SLO, and the soon to open spa is a chance for everyone to SLO down.

Hotel Cerro: Hotel Cerro brings boutique luxury to SLO with an organic spa, an onsite garden, and the fun Life of Pie bakery that makes fresh daily savory and sweet pies. Grab your favorite libation in The Distillery or enjoy looking out over the Central Coast from the rooftop pool.

Wayfarer: Downtown is the hottest neighborhood in Los Angeles and with the opening of The Wayfarer it’s about to get even hotter. The high-design, community-focused boutique hotel has a communal kitchen, social dining and even a handful of shared rooms. The hotel features The Kitchen restaurant, Gaslighter Social Club, Rooftop bar and Lilly Rose, an underground bar and entertainment venue.

Marriott: Travelers to the Conejo Valley will get a twofer when Marriott opens a Courtyard and a Towneplace Suites under one roof. Located right off the 101, guests of the two hotels have access to all amenities at each including a saltwater pool, fire pits, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Super high speed internet makes it ideal for business travelers.

Pendry West Hollywood: In the heart of it all on the iconic Sunset Strip, the Pendry offers 149 luxury rooms and suites, a celebrity chef helmed restaurant, rooftop bar, spa and even a bowling alley. A curated art collection, screening room and live entertainment venue celebrate the creative spirit of Hollywood.

Godfrey Hotel: The boutique Godfrey Hotel opens in early 2020 steps away from Sunset Boulevard. The high design hotel will feature the chef-driven About Last Knife steakhouse, four bars, a curated art program and one of the largest rooftop spaces in Los Angeles.

Bolero: Bolero brings Spanish flair to Temecula combining a Spanish vineyard and tasting room with an intimate casita hotel in the new Europa Village opening in early 2020.

Andaz Palm Springs: Opening in late 2020, Andaz Palm Springs is in the heart of downtown and perfect for exploring vintage boutiques, midcentury modern architecture and Palm Springs nightlife.

Oceanside’s Beachfront Resort: The largest beachfront development on the San Diego Coast opens in late 2020 with two resorts. The Joie de Vivre hotel will boast 160 rooms and suites, most with oceanfront balconies, and the luxury beach house designed Destination Hotel offers 226 rooms and suites with ocean facing views.

Hotel Renovations

Portola Hotel & Spa: The Four Diamond Portola Hotel & Spa located along Monterey Bay unveils a multi-million dollar renovation in spring 2020. All public spaces and 379 rooms received a head-to-toe makeover to reflect the hotel’s jaw-dropping coastal location.

Hideaway: Situated near both the coast and Santa Barbara’s hip Funk Zone, the Hideaway underwent an extensive renovation to emerge as the beach chic spot in the city. Guest rooms feature coastal décor and luxury appointments. Don’t miss indulging in the fresh baked cookies that tempt in the lobby.

Oceana: Following a $35 million renovation Oceana debuts as a boutique hotel with a decidedly high-end residential feel on Santa Monica’s coastline. The 70 guest suites feature ocean views and luxury appointments. A private indoor-outdoor restaurant led by famed Chef Raphael Lunetta awaits to delight guest’s taste buds.

Omni La Costa Resort & Spa: Carlsbad’s legendary Omni La Costa Resort & Spa opens its 30,000 sq. ft. Spanish mission style La Luna Ballroom. The new event space gives the Omni the most meeting space in all of Southern California.

Loge Mt. Shasta: Located on the flanks of Mt. Shasta, Loge Mt. Shasta reimagines a motel into an adventure ready basecamp designed to get guests to live outside and explore. Hyatt Place: The just opened 88-room Hyatt Place in Santa Barbara gives travelers a central point to explore wine country, Spanish colonial landmarks, the city and the university.
