The Golden State, a leader in inclusivity and equal rights, is home to some of the world’s most extravagant LGBTQ+ Pride Celebrations
Year-round
California remains a leader when it comes to inclusivity and equal rights, historically spearheaded by leaders like Harvey Milk. Not surprisingly, the Golden State is home to some of the world’s most extravagant LGBTQ+ Pride Celebrations. The biggest takes place in San Francisco, while Southern California has some of the nation’s other largest in Los Angeles and San Diego.
Held the last full weekend in June, the world-famous San Francisco Pride celebrations feature a celebrity grand marshal, top-name musical entertainment, family-friendly activities and over 200 parade contingents and exhibitors.
The city’s annual celebration, WeHo Pride, kicks off annually on Harvey Milk Day, May 22. Celebrations include an array of activities and programming, including a parade, street fair, music festival and more.
Beginning in 1974, San Diego Pride goes all out with musical entertainment on five stages as part of the city’s biggest civic event.
Revolving around acceptance and individuality, California’s Pride festivals and events have become annual celebrations, drawing attendees from across the country and world.
