California Global Ready: India Seminars to Prepare Travel Industry for Emerging India Market

India Seminars to Prepare Travel Industry for Emerging India Market

Sacramento, Calif. (June 13, 2018) –Visit California is expanding its successful California Global Ready seminar series to focus on its No. 1 opportunity market, India.

Beginning today, Visit California is hosting five California Global Ready: India seminars at locations across the state. The series builds on the organization’s Global Ready: China training program, reflecting the state’s evolving international inbound travel trends.

California is the first U.S. destination to offer a program designed to focus on welcoming Indian travelers. The seminars aim to prepare travel and tourism professionals to serve an increasing number of travelers from India, the state’s eighth-largest overseas market.

The Golden State welcomed 368,000 visitors from India in 2017 — 30 percent of all Indian visitors to the United States.

“India is a critically important opportunity market for California, and our forward-thinking travel industry is eager to roll out the red carpet for Indian visitors,” said Visit California President and CEO Caroline Beteta.

By 2020, California expects 418,000 Indian visitors – a 45 percent increase from 2018. Indian tourists also stay longer than those from any other country – 19 days – and spend a collective $815 million in California.

California Global Ready: India seminars will provide insights and inspiration gathered from Visit California’s many years of travel trade and earned media activation in the market, including building strong relationships with key Indian leaders in business, aviation, entertainment and government.

The California Global Ready: India seminars will be held:
  • June 13: Napa
  • June 14: Oakland
  • June 18: Palm Springs
  • 3: San Diego
  • 4: Los Angeles

Seminars are still open for registration. Find more information at industry.VisitCalifornia.com/GlobalReady.
