Since 1983, Temecula has combined its two signature activities — winemaking and ballooning — into a three-day, family friendly festival held in early June at Lake Skinner Regional Park. Balloons rise at dawn and sunset, weather permitting, and in between, guests sample local wines and craft beers, graze through the international food court (seated VIP food and wine pairings are available), browse arts and crafts, check out live music on two stages, and close the night out dancing to DJs.
Tethered balloon rides are offered, too, but the can’t-miss event is the nighttime balloon glow, when balloonists fire up their burners for a coordinated light show. Camping is the ultimate way to experience the Temecula Valley Wine & Balloon Festival, but campsites need to be reserved early.
